LAHSO in NZCH

Giving the increasing levels of traffic and inspired from operations in airports such as Melbourne in VATPAC airspace where they use a procedure called LAHSO - Land and Hold Short Operations, where an aircraft is to land, and then hold short of the intersecting runway or a point. I think to increase...

ATC feedback

After a ban from the VATNZ discord, after an unprecedented riot breaking out on there about my ban and the ban of another member for the same reasons, for providing feedback and criticisms about controllers in VATNZ airspace, I have a idea that could help solve all these issues, Would it be possible...

Re: Use of multiple frequencies within VATNZ Airspace is for Extending Enroute Controllers Only

Gotcha, does the controller set a .viz point for each enroute transceiver they are using? cheers, Unfortunately that's not the case. The vis points in EuroScope are irrespective of transceivers on AFV and are only used to make yourself visible to other aircraft really and for you to see other aircr...

Re: Use of multiple frequencies within VATNZ Airspace is for Extending Enroute Controllers Only

Hi Zain, neither examples you have given can work with AFV. Please read this: https://vatsim-afv.s3.amazonaws.com/AFV%20User%20Guide.pdf The pilot can only see on his Audio Control Panel (XPilot, Xsquawkbox, VPilot, etc) ATC that is in range. Even if you were using CHCH_S_CTR he may not be able to ...

Re: Use of multiple frequencies within VATNZ Airspace is for Extending Enroute Controllers Only

This is a very good point of discussion giving many ENR hours I have on my belt. A problem I have only with this is where on vPilot etc pilots would tune the wrong frequencies for the parts of my extended coverage, Say I'm on NZAA on 123.9 and some bloke in NZQN wants to contact me, he tries using 1...

Re: VATNZ - New Aerodrome Controller - James Ford-Hathaway

Welcome to the ATC gang big James. Now you're left with something to do taking a laptop on your layovers while out there trucking LOL.

All jokes aside, you'll be a great addition to our team. I cannot wait to be on duty with you.

Re: VATNZ - New Aerodrome Controller - Joel Hanks

Well done mate. I have seen you grow so much in our community, from being a plane spotter from Wellington on Instagram (where we first chatted and then from there you joined VATSIM) and rise up to the new heights of becoming an ATC in VATNZ.

I cannot wait to control with you one day man, for sure.

Membership statistics

I have been a member of VATSIM and VATNZ since the ending days of 2015 and since then I have been noticing that the membership counts in VATNZ have remained between 470 and just below 500 members in total (both active and inactive members) and has been around these numbers for years. This makes us p...

New ATIS files - WIP

Hey everyone, To match up and get up to scratch with ATIS phrases taken from real world ATIS broadcasts from Airways throughout their towers, I have decided that I'll be starting a project, making new ATIS files which will also play out ATIS voices to match New Zealand's ATC operations. In addition ...

Re: Wellington Fly In

It is with great regret to say that my booking for Wellington Tower tonight is now CANCELLED due to sickness. I have fallen sick and lost my voice which unfortunately means I cannot control with a lost voice. My health and wellbeing goes before anything else that I do. Whether be IRL stuff or VATSIM...
