Antivirus software thinks some FS addons are trojan horses!

#1 Post by Phil Faidley » Mon Apr 14, 2008 9:56 am

Team,
I have recently retrofitted my entire computer system with AVG after ditching Norton 360. Seems like it was the best thing to do, until...

Imagine my surprise when my (purchased, licensed and verified) addons in FS, including Flight 1 ATR and Ready For Pushback B742 both crashed FS9 to desktop on loading the aircraft!

It seems that allowing AVG 8.0 to freely scan, unless you specify particular folders/files to NOT scan, it will delete or quarantine quite a variety of executables.

For instance, most of the RFP fuel and pax loading, and animation utilities look like trojan horses to AVG, as does the main flight1 dlls.

I have a support request into Grisoft now, but has anyone else experienced this or heard about it in other forums?

Phil

I had exactly the same problem, except when using Trend Internet Security. It used to remove and quarantine the flight1 dll's. (I think it was the flight1 check ones)

I contacted Trend about it a few months ago, who to this day have not replied. As a consequence I've ditched it for a free anti-virus program (Avast) and a firewall program.

After changing programs I've not had any problem.

Wish you luck!

Thanks Andy
Yep, the Flight1 check .dll is the one that caused me the most grief.
How did you manage to recover that file? Did you have to reinstall the Flight1 product completely?

I just fished it out of quarantine after disabling the Antivirus. Also, believe it or not you can actually find the DLL somewhere on the internet to replace it. I google'd myself stupid trying to sort the problem out, and stumbled across it on a forum somewhere (sorry cant be of any more help than that).

Hey mate, just to inform you. Don't use AVG, use Avira. (I'm very experienced with viruses.) AVG will not pick up as much as Avira.

Just a quick tip :D
